History of Beloved Bones

Beloved Bones is primarily an Oddities and Curiosities, Antiques, and Vintage retail shop founded by Mekala Littleton in 2017. What began with selling her artwork on Etsy, through word of mouth, and at a small DIY space she co-owned (Warehouse B), soon expanded into other local shops around OKC. In 2021, she established an 8x12 booth at a local vintage shop, incorporating vintage and antique oddities into her growing vision for Beloved Bones.

By March 2022, Mekala opened the Beloved Bones brick-and-mortar storefront alongside its sister space, The Sanctuary. The shop has continued to grow, offering a carefully curated space for other creatives and like-minded individuals to showcase their work.

Beloved Bones is more than a retail shop, it’s a creative arts space. Sharing a building with The Sanctuary, a DIY music venue, the space regularly hosts touring bands, live music events, art shows, cinema nights, workshops, and Community Arts Markets.

Rooted in the belief that creativity, history, and community are essential to a meaningful life, Beloved Bones and The Sanctuary aim to provide a place for exploration, reflection, and connection. Through a curated retail selection, cultural programming, and collaborative events, the mission is to inspire curiosity, foster growth, and build community. These sister spaces serve as an inclusive, soul-nourishing environment where creativity and learning are not just welcomed, but vital.
